AUSTRALIA'S TOP PHOTOGRAPHERS 2009

   

Now in their fourth year, Australia's Top Photographers Awards recognise the best professional photographers in the country. The program acknowledges winners and finalists in 12 categories, and is unique in Australia as the only awards program where clients and photography buyers get to nominate photographers who have a proven record of excellence.

NOMINATIONS

Anyone can nominate professional photographers for these awards, based on these criteria:
- Clients' and peers' experience
- Industry reputation and professionalism
- Style/creativity
- Technical expertise
- Approachability and client service

 

VOTING

After nominations are complete, all nominated photographers are asked to vote for their peers. They can vote for up to three nominees in any category. The category winners and an overall winner across all categories, are announced at the annual Top Photographers Awards night. The top ten, including three finalists, in each category, are announced beforehand and can be viewed on this website.

ELIGIBILITY

Photographers must be well-recognised in the field that they have been nominated. Their marketing material and website should reflect their speciality.

NEW CATEGORY

The category of Emerging Photographer of the Year was introduced this year. It is judged differently to the rest of the competition in that it will include a portfolio review, and will not be based on reputation or stature in the industry. The portfolios are judged by the Top Photographers category finalists.
