They are caught from the beaches and in the estuaries

In the estuary you only need line of two to three kilograms and from the beach three to five kilo is fine.

The best locations to find whiting in an estuary is on the shallow sand flats and the channels that run between them. Whiting prefer more sheltered beaches but still look for gutters. Beaches that are close to an estuary mouth are also very good.

Whiting feed on the bottom, so your bait should also be on the bottom. Your sinker, however, needs to be just light enough to allow it move in the tidal flow of the estuary or in the wash of the beach.
